Ash tree removal begins Feb. 23 at Yankton Trail Park

The City of Sioux Falls announced on Monday, Feb. 23, that ash tree removal begins this week at Yankton Trail Park.

As part of Sioux Falls Parks and Recreation’s Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) management plan, several ash trees along the Big Sioux River have been “identified as safety risks” due to EAB infestation, said city officials.

Completion of the removal project is expected no later than early March, weather pending, and cleared areas will then be assessed for “suitable replanting opportunities.”…
