Primal, an independent butcher shop open in the Capital Region for more than 15 years, will close both its locations, in Guilderland and Wilton, after business on Wednesday or possibly Thursday, depending on remaining inventory. Owner Tim Howland cited an extreme rise in the price of beef and declining consumption of it as major reasons.
“Beef is historically high,” said Howland. “I did everything I possibly could to keep it going, but with the terrible winter we’ve been having, it’s just not sustainable.”
