COLUMBIA, S.C. (WJBF) – Reverend Jesse Jackson Sr.’s body will lie in state in the South Carolina Statehouse on March 2, the Office of Governor Henry McMaster said Monday.
According to the governor’s office, the request came from Jackson’s family and numerous members of the South Carolina General Assembly. A copy of the family’s letter requesting this honor can be found here.
Governor McMaster has also directed that flags at the Statehouse be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset that day “to honor the legacy and memory of Reverend Jackson.”…
