Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office makes arrests following shooting

The Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office has arrested two individuals following an investigation into a shooting that occurred on Goins Lane in Elgin on Jan. 20.

Christopher David Douglas, 31, has been charged with pointing and presenting a firearm, and possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine. Paul William Mason, 38, was also arrested and charged with possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine.

Investigators determined that a physical altercation occurred between the two individuals during a suspected drug transaction. During the altercation, Douglas went to his vehicle and retrieved a firearm. Mason, who was also armed, discharged his firearm and shot Douglas.
