Green Mills Group and its nonprofit partner, the Pantry of Broward, are working together on a multi-family housing project in Fort Lauderdale’s Progresso Village neighborhood. Construction started on the venture this past week; it’s expected to take about a year.
The Lofts on 6th is set to measure eight stories above grade and feature 90 affordable housing units for seniors. Specifically, 14 units will be reserved for households earning at or below 30 percent of the area median income (AMI), 48 will be for households earning at or below 60 percent of the AMI, and 28 will be for households earning at or below 80 percent of the AMI.
Amenities at The Lofts on 6th will include a game room, library, and fitness center. There would also be two levels of on-site covered parking. The Lofts on 6th will replace the food pantry on the site – but in return, the community will feature a new distribution warehouse that will expand on those services.
The Pantry of Broward secured more than $31 million in funding to finance the project, most of which ($21 million) coming from TD Bank. Gomez Construction Co. is the general contractor.
