FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) – U.S. medical experts say African Americans experience more heart health problems than people of any other race — something a Fort Wayne nonprofit is working to address.
The African American Health Alliance was formed in 2001 when a nursing sorority and a medical-dental association, which had been holding fundraisers for Fort Wayne students interested in the health field since the mid-1990s, merged into a single nonprofit. Today, they seek to use education and outreach to connect Black residents with important health information.
