Then and now: Rhode Islanders recreate scenes from Blizzard of ’78

EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Though the Blizzard of ’26 shattered the snowfall record set by the Blizzard of ’78, it’s bringing back memories for plenty of Rhode Islanders who were around for both storms.

The historic blizzard dumped nearly four feet of snow on the Ocean State, with T.F. Green International Airport recording a whopping 37.9 inches.
