Last Saturday, Morgan Hill police say they arrested a suspect after a flurry of calls from residents and business owners reporting that someone was breaking into multiple storefronts across the city. Those tips helped officers swarm the area and make a detention along commercial stretches, including Monterey Road and Main Street.
How Officers Tracked And Detained The Suspect
According to the Morgan Hill Police Department, the chain of calls started when an alert resident phoned dispatch to report a subject actively breaking into a business on Main Street, and a second business owner almost simultaneously reported a burglary in progress. Officers rolled in and detained a man who allegedly walked up and claimed ownership of a vehicle that investigators say was tied to the incidents.
Police report that officers recovered shoes, a sweatshirt, gloves, and other items they say the suspect had tossed aside while moving between scenes. According to the department, Officer Vieira later obtained a confession to all three burglaries.
