Unlicensed Pasco contractor arrested in court, must await felony theft sentencing behind bars

TAMPA, Fla. — An unlicensed Pasco County contractor will spend the next month in jail after a Hillsborough County judge on Tuesday revoked bond ahead of a sentencing hearing in a felony theft case.

Jason Wallace pleaded guilty in January to felony charges of stealing from the elderly and failing to get workers’ compensation. A judge was set to sentence him on Tuesday, but a last-minute defense attorney switch caused a delay.

Deloris Hilliard, who said she used an inheritance to pay Wallace more than $70,000 for work he never completed at her Hillsborough County home, said she’s frustrated the sentencing was postponed. Yet, she said seeing deputies take him away in handcuffs brought relief…
