LAKE WORTH, Fla. (CBS12) — At 95 years old, Marilyn VanVleet has just earned one of the Girl Scouts’ most exclusive honors — a recognition so rare that only a handful of volunteers ever receive it.
The Girl Scouts of Southeast Florida presented VanVleet with the Lifetime Service Award on February 23, celebrating her decades of leadership and the generations of young women whose lives she helped shape.
Introduced in 2014, the Lifetime Service Award is reserved for volunteers whose long-term dedication has strengthened the Girl Scout mission in extraordinary ways, according to the Girl Scouts.
