ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) – This March, the Grandin Theatre will present four free films to the public as part of its fourth annual Women’s History Month Film Festival.
“We are incredibly excited to continue this Women’s Month celebratory film festival at the Grandin for our fourth straight year,” said Ian Fortier, executive director of the Grandin Theatre Foundation. “This year’s slate of films was curated with some great input from our volunteer community programmers, and we are very proud of the care and effort they put into presenting a wonderfully balanced group of films.”
The schedule is as follows:
- Wed., March 4 at 7p.m. – “Erin Brockovich”
- A law firm secretary works to bring justice to a small town destroyed by a utility company’s pollution.
- Wed., March 11 at 7 p.m. – “Toni Morrison: The Pieces I Am”
- This film pieces together Toni Morrison’s life and work.
- A free spoken word and poetry event with five women poets and storytellers will be held before the screening.
- This film pieces together Toni Morrison’s life and work.
- Tue., March 17 at 7 p.m. – “Lingua Franca”
- An undocumented Filipina transgender woman falls in love in Brooklyn.
- Wed., March 25 at 7 p.m. – “100 Yen Love”
- A 32-year-old woman’s life picks up momentum when she meets a boxer.
