The Linn County Sheriff’s Office has arrested an 18-year-old Waterloo man in connection with a December robbery in rural Linn County, Iowa, that left a victim injured and out $10,000.
According to Sheriff Brian D. Gardner, the robbery was reported on December 22, 2025. The victim told authorities he was targeted through a text message and phone scam claiming his bank accounts had been compromised.
Investigators said the victim was instructed to turn over his banking cards and later cash to an individual posing as an investigator who would arrive at his residence.
