BATON ROUGE — Baton Rouge Police detectives are asking for the public’s help in identifying a man they say is involved with targeting elderly male customers at a home improvement store.
According to BRPD, the suspect was walking around a local home improvement store and “specifically targeting elderly male customers” by gaining trust. They say the suspect approached a victim and showed him a large amount of cash to gain his trust and “spark interest.”
The suspect allegedly then persuaded the victim to drive him to multiple locations before convincing the man to withdraw approximately $15,000 from his bank account. Once the victim handed the man the money, the suspect allegedly placed the cash into a fanny pack and said he was going to show the money to a friend…
