Utah wildfire team aids San Angelo amid elevated fire conditions

SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — Four wildfire task force teams from Utah have been deployed to Texas in response to elevated fire weather conditions across the state, with one team assigned to San Angelo.

The four teams, which include personnel from Utah Forestry, Fire & Lands as well as local cooperators, will be sent to several Texas cities, including Jourdanton, San Angelo, Lubbock and Mineral Wells.

“Crews will operate 12-hour shifts, providing continuous coverage over the coming weeks,” wrote Utah Forestry, Fire & State Lands in a post made to Facebook. “Texas is actively promoting fire prevention measures and burn bans, and additional resources will help strengthen response efforts during this period of heightened risk.”

Kayla Driver, wildland urban interface coordinator and public information officer for the Texas A&M Forest Service, said, “Texas A&M Forest Service and Texas Intrastate Fire Mutual Aid System (TIFMAS) firefighters have stayed busy the past few weeks responding to wildfire activity, and conditions are expected to remain warm and dry.” She added that they are grateful for the personnel from local organizations and partnering land management agencies assisting during these challenging conditions and encouraged Texans to help prevent new wildfires as elevated fire danger continues…
