LUBBOCK, Texas — The Lubbock City Council passed an ordinance Tuesday that is set to transform a low density single-family district into a heavy commercial district near Woodrow Road and Frankford Avenue.
The proposed ordinance was brought forth by Hugo Reed and Associates for Starlight Development, LLC., as they sought a zone change for 35.5 acres of land located in District 5. After first being proposed two weeks ago, the amount of land included in the request was decreased from around 50 acres to the aforementioned 35.5. A resident in the area voiced disagreement to this proposal at Tuesday’s meeting. However, the City Council passed this ordinance on its second reading by a vote of 4 to 3.
