Amarillo Gets 3 More Weeks of Girl Scout Cookies

One of the best times in Amarillo is when those little Girl Scout cookies go on sale. You literally can’t avoid picking up a box each time you see one; they just call your name. If I’m not distracted leaving a store where they are, I always get sucked in.

Then comes the day when those little cookies go away, and you can’t buy any more for a year. You have to shake the cookie withdrawal, because that’s a real thing. You start looking for ways to replace them, but you simply can’t do it.

Cookie Selling Extension

Well, 2026 is our year, because the Girl Scouts just made a huge announcement. They’ve extended cookie sales to March 15th! That means more Thin Mints, more Peanut Butter Patties, or whatever your favorite is.

Katherine Curtis, executive director of Girl Scouts of Texas Oklahoma Plains announced that sales would be extended to March 15, giving us nearly three more weeks to snag up all our favorites and hide them in the freezer. Now, while I’m ecstatic, I feel bad for the Girl Scouts. It means more time they have to spend selling them, but I promise we’ll make it worth it.

Why Did They Extend Sales

According to Harris, “Amarillo got hit with the winter storm and the next weekend with freezing temperatures, so our season started when the storm hit most of West Texas, and they decided they were going to give the girls more weekends to sell.”…
