A Wichita man suspected of serving as a bookie while employed at Mulvane’s Kansas Star Casino has been arrested and charged with illegal gambling crimes, the attorney general’s office said.
47-year-old Quoc Phu Lam of Wichita was arrested last week after an investigation by the Kansas Racing and Gaming Commission alleged that Lam placed bets on behalf of other people, a practice also known as proxy betting, which is a violation of Kansas law.
He faces two counts of commercial gambling, one count of unlawful wagering–proxy betting, one count of attempted unlawful wagering–proxy betting and one count of solicitation to commit commercial gambling.
