Escaped mental health patient now in custody after climbing tower in Turley, authorities say

TULSA, Okla. – An escaped patient from a mental health facility in Pryor climbed to the top of a tower in Turley on Tuesday before being taken into custody, according to the Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities said the man identified himself as 36-year-old Johnathan Cartwright.

Officials clarified Cartwright was not a Rogers County inmate who escaped from jail custody. He is a Cherokee Nation inmate who had been housed at the Rogers County Jail. After a mental health crisis, he was transferred to a Grand Mental Health facility in Pryor, where authorities say he escaped…
