What started as a routine drive in Sandy turned into a crime scene Monday night when gunfire erupted near 700 West and 9000 South. A suspect opened fire on a sport utility vehicle, police said. The SUV’s driver was not hurt and stayed at the scene while officers processed the area. The shooter took off before officers arrived, and investigators temporarily shut down nearby roads while they collected evidence.
According to KUTV, the shooting happened around 7:30 p.m., and multiple rounds were fired into the vehicle before the suspect drove away.
