Broomfield officials urge wildfire preparedness as warm, dry conditions raise risk

BROOMFIELD, Colo. (KDVR)— City and fire officials in Broomfield are urging residents to prepare for wildfire emergencies following a standing-room-only community town hall focused on safety, evacuation procedures and emergency response.

Leaders with the City and County of Broomfield and North Metro Fire Rescue District said unseasonably warm temperatures, low humidity and wind can quickly elevate fire danger along the Front Range.

“With higher temperatures and lower humidity, that’s always a concern when we talk about wildfire,” said Clay Shuck, Broomfield’s Emergency Management Operations Director. “It literally just takes a small spark with the winds that we have to create a very difficult situation for first responders.”
