Waynesville church stacks up 70+ years of Pancake Days, flipping free community meals

WAYNESVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — The First United Methodist Church of Waynesville is celebrating over seven decades of its annual Pancake Day.

The first pancakes were made back in 1956 on wood stoves. Now, the church has 10 grills and served more than 6,000 people last year.

Traditional pancakes, sausage, bacon, milk and coffee were served – as people celebrated a common meal in a community atmosphere…
