LANSING — The internal affairs investigation stemming from a former Lansing police lieutenant’s embezzlement case remains ongoing a year after he was charged and nearly 10 months after he was sentenced to probation.
In March 2025, two weeks after he faced a felony charge, Ryan Wilcox bought 14 months of service time and retired from the city. Days later, he pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor embezzlement charge as part of an agreement. Wilcox was later granted his full pension by a city pension board, which under state law he would have forfeited if convicted of a felony related to his job.
The internal affairs investigation began in May 2024, when Wilcox was put on leave for the Michigan State Police investigation. It was then put on hold, which is standard practice, until the conclusion of the criminal investigation…
