NORTH SMITHFIELD – An alleged shoplifter and her partner in crime are facing shoplifting and conspiracy charges despite one Cranston woman’s attempt to allude police by giving them a fake name.
Dennis Arcand, 38, of Bellingham, Mass. and Liese Marshall, 32, of Cranston face the misdemeanor charges following the incident on Tuesday, Jan. 20. Marshall was also charged with obstructing an officer and taken in on four warrants out of other jurisdictions.
According to the arrest reports, police were called to Walmart around 7:30 p.m. for reports of a man and a woman taking items. The pair reportedly fled the store with Arcand running toward Aldi.
Police caught up with Walmart security, who was following Arcand as he headed through the PetSmart property and toward the wood line. When officers ordered him to stop, Arcand reportedly fell in the snow, and then began yelling at the Walmart employee, saying he had been chased for no reason and was almost hit by the security SUV…
