(KRON) — Dozens of dogs are waiting at San Jose Animal Care & Services shelter for forever homes, but a sad-looking dog named Lumi is not one of them.
Shelter workers said they have been bombarded by phone calls and messages from people concerned about Lumi. The wave of concern was triggered by a “false AI-generated” photo posted Sunday by a Facebook group called “Saving Shelter Dogs from Euthanasia,” according to the shelter.
In the photo, a small dog with white curly fur is huddled in the corner of a metal enclosure. The photo’s caption claims that the pooch was “dumped” and was in immediate risk of being euthanized. “She needs someone to walk in now and choose her before this becomes her final night,” the caption states…
