IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG) – The Iowa City Community School District is planning approximately $8 million in cuts across administrative offices, elementary, middle, and high schools, but the district’s superintendent said the reductions will not be enough to address the district’s long-term financial challenges.
The district is in financial crisis following lower student enrollment and payroll costs that increased more than $13 million above budget projections. The district is now struggling to meet its expenses.
