First Alert Weather Day: A burst of snow and wind this afternoon

A First Alert Weather Day is in effect as winter weather moves into the area this afternoon. A burst of snow will develop and intensify, bringing hazardous travel conditions, poor visibility and the potential for blowing and drifting snow.

What to Expect Today:

A short-lived burst of heavy snow will create difficult driving conditions. The Northwoods will see the most significant accumulation, with 1 to 3 inches of snow expected. The Fox Valley will receive lighter amounts, with 1 inch or less. Gusty winds will suddenly reduce visibility and creating blowing and drifting snow, especially on elevated terrain and open roads. If you’re commuting or traveling this afternoon, allow extra time and exercise caution on the roads. This especially holds true for families towards the end of the school day.
