SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Feb. 25, 2026 (Gephardt Daily) — The Utah Highway Patrol is reminding motorists to properly secure and balance their loads after troopers encountered a passenger vehicle carrying an excessive amount of cargo, according to UHP.
Photos released by UHP show a sedan traveling with large items strapped to the roof and rear of the vehicle, including covered bundles, storage bins and other gear secured with ratchet straps. The rear cargo appears to extend beyond the vehicle’s bumper and rides low to the roadway.
According to UHP, improperly secured or overloaded vehicles can create serious safety hazards, including reduced driver visibility, impaired vehicle handling and the risk of debris falling into traffic…
