Arrest made as 14-year-old gunshot victim shows signs of recovery

EUGENE, Ore. — The 14-year-old boy critically injured in a shooting last week is showing signs of recovery. His family confirms that after undergoing two separate brain surgeries, the teen woke up yesterday and is now awake, alert, and talking at the hospital.

The update comes as the Eugene Police Department announced a juvenile suspect was arrested on Friday, Feb. 20, and has been charged with first-degree assault. Due to the suspect’s age, police have not released their identity.

The shooting occurred on the evening of Tuesday, Feb. 17. Eugene Police responded to reports of gunfire at 9:46 p.m. in the area of Marche Chase Drive and Kinsrow Avenue in the Harlow neighborhood.
