Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Unveils Star-Studded Nominee List for 2024 Induction
The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame has announced its list of nominees for induction this fall, featuring a formidable lineup of music’s biggest names. This year’s ballot includes 17 acts, with a significant number-ten, to be precise-making their debut appearance.
Among the first-time nominees are global pop icon Pink, legendary musician Phil Collins, and international sensation Shakira. Collins’ nomination acknowledges his prolific solo career, as he is already an inductee with his band Genesis.
Other notable first-time contenders include the powerful vocalist Melissa Etheridge, Australian rock band INXS, acclaimed artist Lauryn Hill, R&B group New Edition, the late R&B superstar Luther Vandross, the revered late singer Jeff Buckley, and the iconic hip-hop collective Wu-Tang Clan.
Several familiar faces are returning to the ballot after previous nominations, hoping this will be their year. These include vocal powerhouse Mariah Carey, smooth R&B group Sade, punk rock legend Billy Idol, British rock giants Oasis, American rockers The Black Crowes, heavy metal titans Iron Maiden, and the influential U.K. groups Joy Division and New Order, who are listed as a combined nominee.
The highly anticipated inductees will be revealed in April, with the official induction ceremony scheduled to take place in the fall.
Pink, born Alecia Moore, stands as one of the world’s best-selling artists, boasting multiple Grammy Awards in both pop and rock categories. Her impressive career also includes holding the record for the second-highest-grossing tour by a female artist in history, surpassed only by Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour.
Phil Collins’ illustrious career is marked by multiple Grammy Awards, an Academy Award, and two Golden Globe Awards. He is one of only three artists to have sold over 100 million records as both a solo artist and a band member, a prestigious group that also includes Paul McCartney and Michael Jackson.
Beyond her millions of record sales and multiple Grammy and Oscar wins, Melissa Etheridge is widely recognized for her impactful activism within the LGBTQ+ community and as a breast cancer survivor.
Shakira, a global music phenomenon, is credited with significantly popularizing Latin music worldwide. Her accolades include four Grammy Awards and an impressive 15 Latin Grammys. She currently ranks fifth among female artists for all-time highest-grossing tours, thanks to her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour, which commenced in February 2025 and concludes this April.
