Supporters cheer for Harrisburg man sentenced to decades in prison for 2022 murder

DAUPHIN COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) — A Harrisburg man was sentenced to 18 to 40 years in state prison after pleading guilty to murdering another man with an illegal firearm in 2022.

Jyheir Mosley-Williams, 22, of Harrisburg, pleaded guilty to third-degree murder and illegal firearm possession, according to the Dauphin County District Attorney’s Office.

The DA’s office said on March 16, 2022, Mosley-Williams was riding in the passenger seat of a vehicle when he fired several shots at 23-year-old Jacoby Strain-Hankerson, striking him twice and killing him. Mosley-Williams did not possess a license to carry the handgun and was previously adjudicated for unlawful possession of a firearm by a minor, the office said.

The driver of the vehicle, Bennie Chisolm, pleaded guilty to hindering apprehension and received a term of imprisonment of five years in state prison for his role in the murder. The DA’s office said the Commonwealth withdrew Mosley-Williams’ charges after Chisholm initially refused to testify against him, but he later agreed, and Mosley-Williams was recharged.
