Traffic stop leads to discovery of human smuggling in Limestone County

LIMESTONE COUNTY, Ala. — A routine traffic stop in Limestone County led to a drug arrest and the discovery of six undocumented people on Monday.

Limestone County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Camp conducted a traffic stop on a suspicious vehicle traveling on Interstate 65 after observing multiple traffic violations. The driver was identified as 35-year-old Daniel Lopez Baltazar of Mexico.

During the stop, Deputy Camp requested assistance from Deputy Johnson and K-9 Hoss. K-9 Hoss alerted on the vehicle, and a search resulted in the discovery of fentanyl and a THC vape device. Further investigation revealed six undocumented individuals believed to have been smuggled by Baltazar…
