LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – On Wednesday afternoon, the Jefferson County Public Schools’ Audit and Risk Management Advisory Committee and members of the community got a better sense of what may have led the district to fall into a $188 million budget deficit.
An audit firm, Plante Moran, shared 13 areas where the district has to make improvements to prevent this from happening again.
Representatives with Plante Moran said there were some themes that showed up consistently as they worked on the audit, particularly that there seemed to be no clearly defined or followed guidelines for financial oversight within Jefferson County Public Schools (JCPS)…
