A resident of the Village of Sunset Pointe was arrested after an officer found cocaine and a firearm in her possession.
An officer saw 28-year-old Katie Marie Marshall fail to come to a complete stop behind the stop bar when leaving 7-Eleven, located at 16950 U.S. Hwy. 441, around 1:40 a.m. Friday, according to an arrest report from the Fruitland Park Police Department.
The officer got behind her vehicle, a red Ford truck, and watched as it accelerated up to 60 miles per hour in a 50-mph zone. After stopping the vehicle near Morningside Drive, he approached to speak with Marshall. She stated there were no drugs or weapons in the vehicle but denied consent for a search, so a K-9 unit responded to the scene to check, the report said.
With a positive alert, Marshall was removed from the vehicle for it to be searched. She then stated she had a firearm on her person which turned out to be a Beretta 9mm handgun, the report said…
