SCITUATE, R.I. (WPRI) — State troopers have responded to nearly 300 spinouts on highways since a travel ban took effect during Monday’s historic blizzard.
Troopers have handled 269 disabled vehicles, responded to 25 crashes and issued 40 citations for travel ban violations, according to R.I. State Police Maj. Erik Yanyar.
“We’re very aware that essential workers have to get to hospitals or nursing homes, and we’re doing our best to use our discretion in those matters,” Yanyar said. “But we really want to impress upon people that there is a travel ban in effect, and we will enforce it.”
