Recently filed court documents shed a brighter light on the events surrounding an elected official in a Brunswick County city charged with driving while impaired and more last December.
A blood alcohol test has been returned for Southport Alderman Robert Carroll, 38, who was arrested on Dec. 13, 2025, in connection with allegedly driving impaired along N.C. 133.
The signed magistrate order claims Carroll “unlawfully and willfully” failed to drive on the right half of the highway, exceeded the 55-mph speed limit and drove while subject to an impairing substance. Carroll was released on Dec. 14 on an unsecured bond of $500, per court documents…
