MILWAUKEE, Wis. – Wisconsin State Representative Sylvia Ortiz-Velz is being charged with disorderly conduct after an alleged confrontation with another member of the Assembly in 2025.
Prosecutors say in a criminal complaint that Ortiz-Velez was upset that another unnamed legislator did not include her in the drafting of a resolution honoring Latino veterans.
According to Capitol Police, Ortiz-Velez then threatened to contact the press and tell them that the other legislator was engaging in “inapproproate personal actions”. Prosecutors say this was outside the bounds of free speech and political rhetoric…
