LUBBOCK, Texas — The first ever Davis College of Agriculture’s 30 Under 30 Awards have been selected.
One of the recipients is Denny Atchley, a 2024 Summa Cum Laude graduate from Texas Tech. He earned two Bachelor’s degrees from the university, Agricultural and Applied Economics and Business Administration along with a minor in Political Science.
Atchley comes from a long line of cattle ranchers in New Mexico, where he first found his love for agricultural politics during his time at the New Mexico State FFA President. He said, “[I] became a state officer and served as a state president for New Mexico FFA. During that period of time, I got to travel the state and meet countless producers and and learn about the issues in their areas and I got to dabble in some little bit of lobbying work and we went up to our state capital.”

His experience did not stop there, Atchley also did an internship at Tech, which connected him to his current employer, the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association (NCBA). “I completed the Davis College Congressional Internship Program, where they sent five of us ag students up to Washington D.C. and I paired with NCBA while I was up there.”…
