CHRISTIAN COUNTY, Mo. — Authorities have released new details in the investigation into Monday’s deadly shootings that killed two Christian County deputies and injured a Webster County deputy.
Investigators say the violence began in Highlandville when the suspect, Richard Dean Bird, opened fire during a traffic stop, killing Deputy Gabriel Ramirez. A manhunt stretched across Christian and Stone counties as deputies searched for Bird’s abandoned vehicle and tracked his movements.
