ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – There’s a new, rare amphibian that visitors can check out at the ABQ BioPark. For the first time since 2021, you can see an axolotl inside the Life on a Limb exhibit. There is a seven-year-old and an eight-month-old. The Biopark said that there are at most only a thousand of these critically endangered animals out in the wild. Axolotls have gills and are fully aquatic, but also grow lungs, making them one of the few creatures on Earth to have both.
