A long-delayed Las Vegas murder case that horrified the valley is finally headed toward a jury. A Clark County judge has set a May 2027 trial for Brandon Toseland, the Las Vegas man accused of killing 4-year-old Mason Dominguez and hiding the boy’s body in a freezer in the family home’s garage. Prosecutors told the court they are ready to try the case, and Toseland remains in jail on multiple felony counts tied to the child’s death. The new date is the latest turn in a case that has dragged on through a series of continuances and repeated motions in district court.
Clark County District Court Judge Carli Kierny set the May 2027 trial during a recent hearing, where prosecutors said they were prepared to move forward, according to 8 News Now. Court records cited by the station identify Toseland, 39, as facing first-degree murder as well as additional charges that include child abuse and kidnapping.
How The Case Came To Light
Authorities say the case broke open in February 2022 in a way that stunned even veteran investigators. According to CBS News, the boy’s 7-year-old sister slipped a handwritten note to school officials saying her mother was being held. Staff alerted police, who obtained a search warrant for the family’s home. Officers then discovered Mason’s remains inside a freezer in the garage.
