ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – A vacation in Mexico turned into quite an ordeal for an extended family from Eagle River after violence broke out over a cartel leader’s death.
Meg Morse had just concluded a vacation celebrating her father’s 70th birthday. A group, including seven adults and eight children, were heading to the airport in Puerto Vallarta Sunday morning to return home when they got word that there was trouble in the streets.
“Which made sense because as we got closer and closer to the airport the streets were emptying out,” Morse said. “And by the time we were near the airport we were one of the only vehicles on the road.”
Morse said they were anxious to find out what was going on when they finally arrived at the airport. They had only just started unloading their rental car when chaos broke out…
