2 morning crashes leave 5 seriously injured, hospitalized

HONOLULU (KHON2) — Two crashes just within 15 minutes of each other on the morning of Feb. 24 kept Honolulu Emergency Medical Services busy, leaving several people in serious and critical condition.

On Tuesday, Feb. 24, just before 10:15 a.m., EMS said they responded to an 80-year-old woman who was apparently hit by a vehicle at the intersection of Alexander Street and Dole Street in Manoa.

Honolulu Police, Vehicular Homicide Section, said that a 59-year-old male driver and a 31-year-old male passenger were traveling west and made a left turn onto Alexander Street and struck an 82-year-old female pedestrian who was crossing in a marked crosswalk.

“First unit arrived at 10:15 a.m., found an elderly female pedestrian underneath an SUV, the unit arrived, utilized rescue equipment to provide lift to the SUV and get the woman out, at which point patient care was transported to EMS,” said Captain Keopele Gowan of the Honolulu Fire Department…
