Capital Region tow company owner, used car dealer sentenced in theft scheme

ALBANY — A tow company operator and a used car dealer involved in a car theft scheme in the Capital Region have been sentenced.

State Attorney General Letitia James on Tuesday announced the sentencings of 44-year-old John F. Rivers of East Greenbush and 58-year-old Robert A. Pitcher of Broadalbin. Rivers, the owner of tow company Rivers Asset Recovery in Rensselaer, was sentenced Tuesday to two to six years in prison; Pitcher, a used car dealer, was sentenced earlier this month to five years of probation.
