Charlotte’s first electric fire engine is no longer operational.

The Charlotte Fire Department confirmed that its newly unveiled electric fire engine is currently in the shop for warranty-related repairs. Officials described the issues as minor adjustments typical for newly delivered, highly specialized equipment that incorporates emerging technology. The department is working with the manufacturer to address the items under warranty.

Emergency Coverage Remains Unaffected

Fire officials stated that service to the community has not been disrupted. A reserve engine has been placed into operation to ensure uninterrupted emergency response coverage while the electric truck is being serviced. The department emphasized that response capability across the city remains fully intact.
