Ex-coach charged in assault on central Pa. student who suffered a concussion

A former Eastern Lancaster County school board member has been charged with simple assault after being accused of hitting a student in the head with a lacrosse stick last month, giving him a concussion.

Former volunteer lacrosse coach Bryan C. Naranjo, 40, of New Holland, was charged Tuesday with one misdemeanor count of simple assault for the incident, which happened about 7 p.m. Jan. 28 at Garden Spot High School during lacrosse practice.

Naranjo and the student got into an argument after the student hit him in the face with a lacrosse stick, according to charging documents. Naranjo then hit the student, who was wearing a helmet, in the back of the head with a lacrosse stick. Police said the student was later treated for a concussion…
