Hendersonville man indicted after insurance fraud investigation

A Hendersonville man was taken into custody last week after being indicted by a Sumner County grand jury on charges related to an alleged insurance fraud.

According to the Hendersonville Police Department, an investigation was launched in November 2025 after multiple businesses alleged that Richard Darrel Wolfe, 67, of Hendersonville, was selling insurance premiums but failing to remit the payments. As a result the insurance policies were canceled, reportedly without the businesses’ knowledge.

A Sumner County grand jury indicted Wolfe on seven counts of theft of property between $10,000 and $60,000, five counts of theft of property between $2,500 and $10,000, three counts of forgery over $250,000, money laundering, theft of property between $60,000 and $250,000 and theft of property between $1,000 and $2,500…
