‘Actual official’ talks take wing for Santa Rosa/U.S. Navy land swap

The Santa Rosa County Commission will vote Thursday to formally enter negotiations with the United States Navy to obtain a long coveted 700-acre parcel known as Outlying Field Santa Rosa.

“An actual official ask,” is how Commissioner Colten Wright described the shift in the relationship between the two parties.

The county first made known its desire to work a trade to obtain the parcel in the heart of East Milton and convert it from a lightly used NAS Whiting Field training facility to a massive industrial park at which to foster economic development growth…
