Beaumont students hold walk out to protest ICE

Students from Beaumont High School held a walkout Feb. 11 to protest against Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), gathering at the corner of Beaumont Avenue in the rain to exercise their right to peaceful protest.

Over 100 students participated, carrying signs and demonstrating as they left campus. The protest drew attention from residents, including Forest Falls resident Sarina Kemp, who said she stumbled upon the scene while going to the grocery store and was met with what she described as “joyful screaming” from students and their families.

“I talked to tons of kids that day. I talked to a grandfather with his grandson that he came with…bringing the flag in distress for his grandson,” Kemp said, noting that the grandfather told her he had protested when he was young and could not believe his grandson is “having to protest for human rights all over again.”…
