St. Pete’s Sunrise Crew hosts adult field day this Saturday in North Shore Park

If your ideal Saturday includes sunshine, community, and at least one moment where a fully grown adult gets way too emotionally invested in capture the flag, Sunrise Crew Field Day is your kind of chaos. Sunrise Crew, the St. Pete morning workout group known for its early HIIT meetups and strong local following, is bringing back its second annual Field Day this Saturday, Feb. 28 at 2 p.m. at the North Shore Park Softball Field (901 N Shore Dr. NE), and it sounds like the perfect blend of fitness, friendly competition, and “how did I end up sprinting this hard” energy.

This adult field day is complete with local sponsors, giveaways, and team assignments that are chosen randomly, which is a beautiful system if you enjoy uncertainty and mild athletic panic. And let’s be honest, random teams are half the fun. Sunrise Crew promises games like capture the flag, Spikeball, kickball, relay races, and a few surprises, which is basically a greatest hits album of PE class activities, only now everyone is older, louder, and significantly more interested in post-game drinks. Tickets are available here.

Local businesses enter their competitive era

This year’s sponsor lineup gives the whole thing a very St. Pete feel, and one of those sponsors is us. Yes, I Love The Burg is sponsoring the yellow team, which is both delightful and extremely on-brand for a local event built around sunshine, community, and friendly competition. Alongside us, the six sponsored teams include Gateway Subs (blue), Ferg’s (white), Parkview App (black), Paradeco Coffee (pink), and Last Rep (green), so expect a fun mashup of local businesses, bragging rights, and at least a little playful trash talk while everyone battles it out for prizes. Prizes include tickets to Cold Tub Coffee Club’s March 1 Tampa Bay Lightning Wellness Event, You’re Doing Great swag, Paradeco swag, Serious Steel Fitness exercise accessories, and more.

What makes this one worth showing up for, even if you are not a “sports person,” is the vibe. Sunrise Crew has built a strong local following around morning workouts in St. Pete, and their Instagram points to regular meetups and a real community, which tells you this is less random pop-up and more local event with actual momentum behind it. In other words, people are going to be there because they want to be there, not because their office made them attend a trust fall seminar…
