Two men linked to series of thefts of wire, HVAC parts, other metal

Two men are facing criminal charges following a State Police investigation into multiple thefts of wire, HVAC materials and other metal items dating back to last fall.

Delaware State Police said after months of investigation, detectives were able to identify two suspects. One of them, 32-year-old Mark Hartnett of Wilmington, is accused of selling stolen materials at several scrap metal facilities. Hartnett was arrested last Friday.

38-year-old Thomas Drummond of Newport was arrested Monday on theft-related charges.

State Police say the stolen materials were worth more than $21,000 and the incidents caused nearly $79,000 damages to the affected businesses.
